I then hired a doula with my third birth and both myself and my husband had a much better experience. My doula helped him be more involved in the birth process in a skillful way, and we left that birth so happy and connected.

Helping parents navigate birth together has become an integral part of my doula work.

I pursued postpartum doula certification after struggling with postpartum depression and anxiety myself. I wish I had had more support to not feel so alone during the postpartum period. I feel so grateful to be a part of serving parents through such a vulnerable time.

I had never even heard of a doula before my second birth and I had approached my first birth with a 'just tough it out' mentality. Thankfully my midwife showed me what a difference a doula could make when the student midwife acted as my doula for parts of my birth.

The differences were amazing! I had better pain management and was more in tune with my body than my first birth.

That experience ignited something within me, and I knew I had found my calling. From that moment on, I was hooked, diving heart-first into this fulfilling work.

Why I Became a Doula

Inspired by my own births

When there is no sun, sunflowers turn towards each other to share their energy. To me this was a powerful symbol for how I wanted to show up and support parents on their journey and share my knowledge and experience with them. I want to be the person helping to lift you up and bring you light and connection.

As someone who finds solace and inspiration in nature, I’ve always been drawn to the calmness of the great outdoors and the thrill of adventure.

My family and I spend much of our time hiking, camping, and exploring — activities perfectly suited for my three amazing little boys, who keep me on my toes and gift me fresh perspectives each day.
